Preschoolers Explore the Wonders of Weather

Preschoolers recently explored the water cycle in the classroom with a cloud experiment led by Ms. Sara Flansburg. Using a heat source to represent the sun and a pan of ice water to mimic cooler temperatures in the atmosphere, students watched as water vapor formed, turned into droplets, and fell as “rain.” This engaging activity helped them understand evaporation, condensation, and precipitation in action.
As part of their weather study, students also discussed how checking the forecast helps them prepare for the day and stay safe during storms. They brought rainy days to life through landscape paintings, using different lines to create raindrops, puddles, and colorful rainbows.

At the library, they continued their exploration by reading "Split, Splat," singing songs about the rain and coloring rainbows before checking out books. This weather-filled week sparked curiosity and creativity as preschoolers connected science, art, and storytelling.
