Graland Country Day School is excited and honored to join the Horizons National Program as an affiliate of Horizons Colorado.
Horizons Colorado at Graland launched in the summer of 2024. Following the Horizons National model, students enrolled in the program benefit from academic skill building, enrichment opportunities, swimming lessons, and field trips through a 6 week summer program and events throughout the year.
In its first year, Horizons Colorado at Graland served students and families in the Aurora Public Schools District in partnership with the Metro Migrant Education Program. The Horizons program also partnered with the Jewish Community Center (JCC) for enrichment activities and swimming.

Christi James is the executive director of Horizons Graland, where she leads the program’s mission to close the achievement gap and offer enriching educational opportunities to students and families who might not otherwise have access to them. With over 30 years of experience as an educator, Christi is passionate about education as a means to help children succeed and thrive. Prior to her current role, she taught Spanish at Graland for 31 years, developing the Lower School Spanish program and coordinating service learning initiatives.Read More -
Elise de Geus
Elise de Geus serves as the program manager for Horizons Graland, where she is deeply committed to supporting the mission of closing equity gaps in education. Elise is passionate about providing students from underserved communities in the greater Denver area with enriching, experiential learning opportunities that they might not otherwise have access to.Read More
