Sharing School History… New Corkins Center Display Planned for 2022

Jim Arneill, School Archives Committee
As we inch closer to Graland’s 100th anniversary since its incorporation in 1927, sharing its glorious history seems very fitting with a new display in the Corkins Center. The current Allen Tupper True display will be taken down in a few weeks and in its place will be an “Alumni Memorabilia Gallery.”
In the gallery will be artifacts currently housed in the school archives storage area along with items either loaned or donated for the display by Graland alumni. Accompanying each artifact will be a brief description of it along with a date or approximate date.

Many items have already been assembled, but if any alumni have items that they would like to be included in the display, please contact Anna Natassja Scheitler at ascheitler@graland.org.

Meanwhile, you might want to take a final look at the True display which highlights the many celebrated murals around the state which early parent True created. Two of the six murals he created for Graland in 1928 are on display in the Ellie Caulkins Board Room and in the Gates Middle School building, and framed representations of all of them are outside the admission office.
