Grade 4: Pedal Power

Mother Nature didn’t dampen the excitement and energy surrounding this year’s Bike Hikes. The fourth graders eagerly pedaled their bikes for 12 miles along the Cherry Creek path. This excursion provided opportunities for students, teachers and chaperones to get outside the classroom and enjoy a variety of academic and community building activities.

Before, during and after the trip, students honed their mapping skills, collaborated with their peers and took time to write reflective pieces about their experiences. Featured activities of the day included: a science lesson demonstrating the difference between potential and kinetic energy, a photo scavenger hunt around the Auraria campus and an opportunity to sketch the downtown skyline.

The fourth grade team would like to thank all of the parents, faculty chaperones and other individuals who helped make the trips so successful!
