Mr. Josh Cobb took the microphone to introduce himself and share more about his childhood. He was born in Boulder and grew up loving the outdoors. He also spent several years living on the east coast. Mr. Cobb loves sports and played football from grades 4-12: “I was always the smallest person on the field and spent most of the time avoiding the bigger players,” he said.

Mrs. Kathy Riley came forward to talk about the idea of being a Graland ambassador both on and off campus. “We can all show kindness and give a smile to everyone we pass in the hallways. We can also be inclusive and ask someone we don’t know very well to play out on the playground,” she said.

Mrs. Riley then invited up several students to describe how they lived the Graland Guiding Principles over the summer. Liam McKee cultivated compassion by handing out “Blessing Bags” with hand wipes, lotion and granola bars to people in need. Emery Mikula promoted independence when she started her own baking business. Others shared how they showed kindness, helped their neighbors and set a good example of respect and manners.
