Third Graders Enhance Geography Skills While Exploring Colorado's Regions

Graland's third-grade students recently engaged in a project aimed at deepening their understanding of Colorado's geographic regions. Guided by essential questions such as "What tools can we use to study geography?" and "How does geography shape the way we live?", the social studies curriculum encourages students to creatively analyze and apply their knowledge.
In a series of thought-provoking lessons, the students crafted three-dimensional relief maps of the state using salt dough, paint, and various materials in the Gates Invention and Innovation Lab. This engaging project not only solidified their comprehension of Colorado's diverse regions but also enhanced their skills in map interpretation and geographical analysis.

As they worked collaboratively, students strengthened their understanding of Colorado's geography while cultivating teamwork and critical thinking skills. Way to go, Grade 3!
