Lower School Sparks Change

Students leading the campus Spark Change group are set to begin collecting change for a good cause. At a Lower School assembly today, they will describe this service learning project and how they will collaborate to select a cause to support with funds, such as children in need, animals, veterans, etc. Parents are encouraged to assign extra chores and pay students in coins if they would like to support Spark Change.

Starting Monday, October 30, Lower School children in preschool to Grade 4 will begin bringing in coins to add to the collection. Advisors Elizabeth Leddy and Kathy Riley stress that Spark Change is not a fundraiser: "It doesn’t matter if the Lower School collects $50 or $5,000. It's what they do with the money that counts!"

Meanwhile, student leaders will research and interview organizations that could benefit from a Spark Change grant; several grants will be announced in the spring. Stay tuned for more about this incredible program!
