Grade 8: Scientists Study Physics

Eighth graders in Mr. Dan Barklund's class worked this week on a constant velocity lab as part of a unit on physics.
Eighth graders in Mr. Dan Barklund's class worked this week on a constant velocity lab as part of a unit on physics. They recorded the distance and time of an electronic car traveling at a constant rate, plotted their data on a graph, then found the velocity by calculating the slope of their line. "Students model the motion of the cars with different starting points, and use the data they collect to make and test predictions about when the cars will pass each other or collide," explains Mr. Barklund.
