Kindergarten: Learning Pattern and Color from Snakes

Young artists got a lesson in patterns, design and color this week with art teacher Andrea Crane. Using snakes as an example of patterns, she read Hide and Snake, a book by Keith Baker, to the class. Next, students were given their own paper snakes and art utensils to design colorful reptiles.
Young artists got a lesson in patterns, design and color this week with art teacher Andrea Crane. Using snakes as an example of patterns, she read Hide and Snake, a book by Keith Baker, to the class. Next, students were given their own paper snakes and art utensils to design colorful reptiles.

"Snakes have interesting patterns and are very textural, making them the perfect subjects for this lesson," shares Mrs. Crane. Using pencils, Sharpie pens, colored pencils and crayons, students put their imaginations to work making their unique designs.
