Under the guidance of James Foreman, director of diversity, 10 students in the Connections club are off campus today participating in workshops aimed at bringing together people from public, charter and independent schools. STAMP (Students Taking Action and Making Progress) is a day-long diversity and inclusiveness conference that Graland co-sponsors each year in Denver.

"This conference is unique because it is designed by high school students for middle schoolers," James says. "It is a launching pad to get kids excited, educated and interested in diversity topics."

Students will hear from keynote speaker Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, a 16-year-old Indigenous change agent and environmental activist from Boulder who leads Earth Guardians, a worldwide conservation organization. He has spoken all over the world and was recently interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine for his efforts to fight climate change.

STAMP is the student half of the CIRCLE conference, an event for educators, board members and parents who are committed to building more inclusive school communities. The CIRCLE intentionally approaches specific issues that surround inclusiveness in a multifaceted approach by exploring opportunities, knowledge, and skills. CIRCLE will be held on October 22 in Denver.
