Pre-K Students Explore Music With Mrs. Tara Neeley

In music class with Mrs. Tara Neeley, Pre-K students recently engaged in a lesson centered around the song “Wake Up Sleepyhead.” The playful tune tells the story of tired cowpokes who, after falling asleep, are called upon by the rancher to find his lost cows.
The students brought the song to life by galloping with colorful scarves, deepening their understanding of how movement and music work together to tell stories. They also learned key musical concepts such as fast and slow tempos, loud and soft dynamics, and musical form.

“Early childhood music education is all about playful exploration and creativity,” Mrs. Neeley said. “These activities help students build confidence and develop foundational music skills through the lens of imaginative play.”

With each lesson, these young musicians are not only learning the building blocks of music but also enjoying the journey of discovery that will inspire their future musical adventures. Keep up the great work, Pre-K!
