Coach DeBoe is also a carpenter in her spare time. She constantly works toward empowering each student to find their own voice, contributions, and role as a mindful citizen.
Impacting Students
In each of my daily lessons, my intention is to integrate mindfulness, kindness, cooperation, and support. Despite one's athletic ability, through movement, games and activity involvement, these characteristics should be the foundation and goal for each student interaction.
Lifelong Learner
I’m more aware of the impact of "touch" regarding students with tactile challenges. I have always used a pat on the back or touch to the shoulder when talking/praising a student. Now I realize there are some students with sensory issues and am mindful to respect those boundaries.
Favorite Teaching Moment
Witnessing a student "light up" and finding their personal niche, especially with those previously negative towards or struggling with sports/activity.
